EVE Online developer CCP Games has used a program called “PLEX for Good” in previous disaster relief campaigns, and is bringing it back for the Japan earthquake/tsunami efforts. PLEX is EVE Online’s in-game currency, and through the program it can be exchanged into real life(tm) currency.
To make your PLEX donation:
- Contract your PLEX to the “CCP PLEX for Good” character, and please make sure the character is in the “C C P” corporation and that the name is spelled correctly to avoid scams.
- Contracts will be accepted within 24 hours of submission, though usually sooner than that.
This program has already generated $63,000 in donations since its inception (not just for Japan). Good on ya, Space Cowboys.
