Sterling McGarvey (wait, that’s who’s posting this) has posted an auction for a limited edition Xbox 360 console faceplate from E3 2005. Only 5000 were produced for people attending.
You are bidding on an extremely limited edition Xbox 360 console faceplate from Microsoft’s pre-E3 press conference at the Shrine Auditorium on May 16, 2005. This was the first time outside of Microsoft’s MTV special that the console was unveiled to most of the gaming media. Only 5000 of these were distributed to gaming media and industry. This is number 2564/5000.
Though the faceplate has never been used, the clear plastic case has some wear and tear from being moved around over nearly six years, and when I relocated from the East Coast to California for work, a curious family member decided to open the case and have a look inside, which I discovered a few months later. As a result, again, there is some minor wear around the case, but the faceplate itself is very much intact and the case still has etchings with the date and faceplate number on the back of the case. I’m willing to update with photos of the back of the case upon request.
Want a piece of history, both for gaming and for Mr. McGarvey’s career milestones (this writing in third-person is creepy)? The auction closes on April 4 at 21:54:10 PDT. All proceeds from the sale benefit Global Giving.
